Roof Stripping

The roof was stripped of all remaining shingles, staples were removed as well as all felt paper

Roof Panels Inspection

Each roof panel was inspected for damage from water or rot

Roof Rot

Two existing panels had signs of rot from moisture buildup

Panel Removal

Any damaged panels were removed

New Panels

10 new 4' x 8' x 1/2" approved panels were installed where deemed necessary

Interior Inspection

The interior of the roof was inspected to assure all water damaged panels were changed and no mold was evident

Roof Cleanup

Panels were re - nailed for added security and prepared for putting on felt

Felt Rollout

New #30 weight approved felt paper rolls were rolled out with an overhang of 19" on first row and 6" on each subsequent row

Felt Application

After rollout and inspection nail down begins

Tin Tab Application

Approved 1 5/8" Tin Tabs are affixed using 1 1/2" roofing nails applied by a pneumatic roofing nail gun. Each Tab is placed 1 foot from the next in rows 1 foot apart.

Roofing Cement

Approved roofing cement is applied where felt is interrupted

Skylight Sealing

Each skylight is sealed with roofing cement

Breather Pipe Sealing

Each 2" brether pipes from kitchen and bathroom plumbing below is sealed with roof cement

Air Vent Sealing

The air vent for the kitchen exhaust is sealed with roof cement

Felt Inspection

After nail-off, roof is checked to be sure felt is properly fixed

Once felt is down, a County Building Inspector will check for compliance with codes and permit on file

Roof Vent

Following inspection, the roof cap vent is cut out

The ridge vent runs entire length of roof and assures captive heat can vent adequately

A wire screen 9" wide is affixed by staple gun to the ridge vent to keep insects out of the attic area

Once the screen has been fully unrolled and stapled to the roof, the metal roof panels can be installed

26 Guage Metalum Master Rib Panels

Each panel is precut to fit each eave of the roof. The holes for the screws are predrilled before lifting them to the roof

Roof Screws

The screws are 1 1/2" long with a special neopreme washer. They are pre painted to match the roof panel colors. If the metal panels are being mounted over an existing asphalt shingled surface, the screws are 2" long

Metal Sheet Mounting

Each panel measures 43" wide and is mounted over the adjoining one. Actual surface coverage for each panel is 36"

Final Inspection

Once all the metal sheets are mounted and properly fastened, the County Building Inspector examines the completed work and approves the work and the Permit is finalized
